This weekend seminar is suitable for Tai Chi instructors and students, who have learned the Yang Long Form or 88-step form and would like to gain further insight into this beautiful and highly beneficial exercise.
The 88-step is one of the traditional Yang Style Long Forms practised by millions of people in China and across the world, it consists of the unique characteristics and essence of Yang Style.
The 88-step Taijiquan emphasises the harmony of the mind, Qi, and body, first in the heart (mind) then the Qi followed by the body. The form promotes the three internal harmonies, the 88-step form brings about internal balance, smooth energy (Qi) circulation, healthier organs, and stronger mind power.
As we go through the movements of the form, the body needs to be centred and upright with a sense of grace. Muscles and joints should be relaxed and agile. Shoulders and Hips, elbows and knees hands and feet are coordinated when executing each move. The flow of movements is smooth and flowing like clouds or streams, slow but gentle, continuous, and even-paced, thus, achieving the three external harmonies of the body. These harmonies help improve joint mobility and tendon flexibility, enhance muscle tones, increase bone density, and better balance.
